Springfield YMCA event Wednesday night looks to replenish food stores of people affected by power outages and the derecho

For those still recovering from the horrid weather of late June and early July, the Springfield YMCA has you covered with food bundles later on Wednesday evening.

In partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, the Central Illinois Food Bank, Hy-Vee, and Target, the Y is helping to distribute 300 storm recovery food bundles on July 19 between six and seven in the evening.

The event will be at the Downtown YMCA  – 601 N 4th Street – for people who lost food during the recent storm and power outages.

The Storm Recovery Food Bundles contain protein, dairy, fresh produce, and snacks to help people replace basic food items when they lost power in the June 29 storm; the Recovery Food Bundle will be drive-up pickup at the Downtown Y Parking lot – one box per household only.
