Sangamon County judge denies pre-trial release for one of two teenagers charged in third teens late-April death in Springfield

A Sangamon County judge is denying pre-trial release for one of the teens charged in the killing of a 16-year-old high school student last month in Springfield.

Police say 16-year-old Dremone Patterson fired the shots that killed Keyon Day on April 24 in the 2300 block of Taylor Avenue near Dreamland Park.

Patterson is charged as an adult with murder and a judge decided that he will remain in custody.

A 15-year-old who is also charged in the shooting hasn’t
been released because they are being charged as a juvenile.
