A Carlinville man is dead after a crash Wednesday evening in Montgomery County.
Authorities say 49-year-old Ronald Schaaff was on a motorcycle, traveling westbound behind two other vehicles on Route 108. Schaaff attempted to pass the middle vehicle, just as the lead vehicle was making a left turn onto East 2nd Road. Schaaff’s motorcycle struck a trailer being towed by the lead vehicle. Schaaff was ejected from the bike and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the lead vehicle was not hurt. The crash shut down Route 108 for several hours Wednesday night.
It remains under investigation.
