Sarah here! Easter is coming up this weekend, and my grandma always used to make ham for the holiday. I was vegetarian at the time, so I didn’t eat it. Well, times have changed and I made my first ham this past weekend! Turned out great. Here’s the recipe:
INGREDIENTS:
onion, chopped
minced garlic
apple cider vinegar, 1/4 cup
stone ground mustard, 1/4 cup
orange juice, 1 cup
whole clove, 10
picnic ham, cured, 10 lb.
honey, 1/2 cup
Dijon mustard, 1/2 cup
Worcestershire sauce, 1 tbsp.
brown sugar, 1 cup
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Add chopped onion, garlic, apple cider vinegar, mustard, orange juice, and cloves to large roasting pan, stir to combine
Place ham on roasting rack over liquid
Trim off tough outer skin. Score ham in crosshatch pattern. Cover with foil for 1 hour
Remove ham from oven. Baste with liquid, remove rack from roasting pan and set aside
Remove all whole cloves. Pour remaining liquid into a pot along with honey and dijon mustard, worcestershire sauce and brown sugar.
Bring mixture to a boil, simmer until thick and reduced
Brush glaze on ham then transfer back to roasting rack
Bake ham for 30 minutes or until it reaches 145 degrees
Slice ham and serve
Enjoy!
