Illinois Governor Pritzker signs executive order to provide equitable access to gene and cell therapy across the state

Governor JB Pritzker recently signed an executive order to provide equity in access to gene and cell therapy in Illinois.

It would apply to therapies such as the recently approved therapy for Sickle Cell Disease.

It directs the state’s Department of Healthcare and Family Services to set up payment models and financial
structures for sickle cell disease treatments and other high-cost treatments in the state’s Medicaid program. Program recommendations will be submitted by the end of the year.
