Lack of broader Abraham Lincoln Capitol Airport service rouses letter from U.S. Senators from Illinois, Congresswoman Budzinski

Three members of Congress from Illinois are urging a major airline to step up its service at the Abraham Lincoln Capitol Airport in Springfield.

Senators Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and Dick Durbin (D-IL), along with Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (D-IL), released a letter to American Airlines CEO Robert Isom Monday
morning to ask the company to change routes to more convenient times for Central Illinoisans.

They argue the times of American Airlines’ current daily
departure times of 2:18 pm and 6:27 pm are rarely convenient for anyone and, in turn, hinder general economic opportunities for the area.

Outside of the American Airlines flights, only two other airlines offer flights to three Florida cities from
the Springfield airport.
