Chicago police officers robbed at gunpoint

Two off-duty Chicago police officers and a city aviation employee were robbed at gunpoint in the city’s South Loop over the weekend.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports among the items stolen from the officers were their Chicago police IDs, badges and Firearm Owners ID cards. A Department of Aviation ID and badge were taken from the third victim. No arrests have been made.

Millions in missing money returned

Nearly $47 million in what Illinois Treasurer Michael Frerichs’ office said was “missing money” was returned last month.

The treasurer’s office said the cash, interest and stock value was found for nearly 82,000 individuals. Illinois holds more than $5 billion in unclaimed property.

So far this year, the treasurer’s office said they’ve returned $267 million through more than 305,000 claims.
