Impasse over land acquisition for Springfield High School appears over as an agreement is reached

The impasse over the acquisition of vacant lots to expand Springfield High appears to be over.

The owner of the vacant lots on 521 and 523 W. Monroe St. has been embroiled in a dispute over the value of the land that the district intends to take through eminent domain.

State Sen. Doris Turner had introduced a bill in the General Assembly to take the property before a price had been negotiated, but a school district spokeswoman announced that the parties had come to terms.
