Sangamon County Sheriff Jack Campbell has announced that the Sangamon County Juvenile Detention Center will be vacated while the Illinois State Police continues investigating a Saturday shooting at the facility.
A 17-year-old was killed by a single shot from a Springfield police officer; police say the child was armed.
Sangamon County State’s Attorney Dan Wright will ultimately decide whether to file charges against the officer.
