Man arrested in Springfield Saturday morning with pistol and drugs

Springfield Police arrested an individual Saturday morning with a bevy of charges after seeing a firearm in a vehicle.

On July 29th, 2023 – at approximately 3:05 a.m. – officers with the Springfield Police Department Street Crimes Unit were walking in the area of the 300 block of north Dirksen Parkway when they made their observation.

Officers then made contact with Christopher L. Stowers of Springfield as he entered his vehicle; it was determined at that juncture that Stowers did not possess a valid FOID card or concealed carry license for the weapon.

Officers then found approximately 30 grams of cannabis, along with about nine grams of cocaine, on Stowers, while a Glock 17 – along with additional cannabis and cocaine – was then recovered from the vehicle upon further search.

Stowers was transported to the Sangamon County Jail pending formal charges by the Sangamon County States Attorney’s Office.
