Most of Illinois continues dealing with drought, while dryness lessens in some areas

While much of Illinois remains in drought-like conditions to varying degrees, there are areas of improvement to be found.

While more than 66% of the state remains in uncomfortably dry conditions, the extreme drought in parts of Pike and Adams counties has been reduced slightly.

Western Illinois, as well as the far northern and southern borders of the state, however, remain in severe drought; not much rain fell north of I-70 – outside of McClean and Vermillion – while Southern Illinois saw the lion’s share of the recent percipitation.
