Illinois innkeeper rules clarified in newly signed state law

Illinois lawmakers have clarified the rules under which innkeepers may refuse to admit lodgers in Illinois hotels.

Among other changes in the law, innkeepers are specifically authorized to eject lodgers who rent rooms in order to allow underage consumption of alcohol or other controlled substances, and lodgers are entitled to a refund of the unused portion of any advance payment, less charges for damages.
