CWLP outlines three phases for returning electricity to 90% of Springfield by this coming Sunday

In Monday’s assessment of the local electricity outages and how best to proceed concerning them, Springfield’s City Water Light and Power has deemed that the plan will entail three phases.

With thousands of consumers still without power heading into the Fourth of July – five days after a derecho terrorized the capital city – phase one will have seen an estimated 3,000 more with their electricity returned to them by the end of Tuesday’s holiday.

Then, in phases two and three – completed by this Friday and Saturday night, respectively – CWLP predicts that only about 1,000 customers will remain without power by this coming Sunday.

The City of Springfield has noted that “Asplundh line construction crews and other crews from utilities in South Bend, Indiana are assisting CWLP. Crews from New Jersey are also being tasked to assist. Additional staff have been added to the CWLP Electric Dispatch office to assist in outage response beginning Thursday.”
