A woman who served in countywide office for decades in Sangamon County has died.
Mary Ann Lamm was the county recorder of deeds from 1976 until her retirement in 2008 – a total of eight terms in the office.
In an era when Republicans have dominated countywide races in Sangamon County, Lamm was one of the most successful Democratic vote-getters in the county. She died Sunday at the age of 84.
A visitation is planned for this coming Sunday, June 11th, from 1 to 4 pm at Butler Funeral Home on South Sixth Street, with funeral services Monday at St. Agnes Church.
