Springfield Police Department releases more information concerning crash that ultimately killed Kevin Crews

Springfield Police are releasing more details about a crash earlier this month that claimed the life of a city man.

41-year-old Kevin Crews died May 6, five days after the accident at 2nd and Cook in which another vehicle reportedly ran a red light and collided with his car.

Witnesses say the driver that ran the red light had been traveling northbound on 2nd Street at a high rate of speed and had entered the bike lane to go around vehicles that were stopped at the stop light.

Springfield police say that the driver remains in the hospital, but has been issued multiple citations, and additional charges are pending; police are not releasing the name of that driver while the investigation continues.
