A new fund to support teachers has been set up in memory of the late Mike Zimmers.
The longtime educator and Springfield school board member died last year. Now his family has established a fund that will help cover costs of a teacher’s professional development that cannot be covered by District 186 or by the teacher themselves.
The family is hoping to make the first grants this fall. More details are available through the Springfield Public Schools Foundation.
