Sangamon County is back at a high level of community transmission for COVID-19.
Several surrounding counties, including Menard, Logan, Morgan, and Christian, are also at high transmission levels. The CDC recommends wearing masks in indoor settings, regardless of vaccination status, in areas of high transmission.
While the rate of new infections is up slightly over last week, it’s lower than it was in December… and much lower than this time last year, when the omicron surge led to infection rates more than ten times higher than they are today.
