Springfield fire investigators still have not determined the exact cause of the fire that heavily damaged the former Goodwill building on North 11th Street, even as they continue to search the rubble for any sign of possible victims of the blaze.
Fire officials say they have accounted for everyone that they know had gained access to the building in an effort to find some shelter from last weekend’s bitter cold. They say there’s no reason to believe anyone else is inside, but they won’t know for sure until the search is complete.
Cadaver dogs are being used in an effort to detect any presence of human remains in the debris of the fire.
