A Springfield jewelry store with roots dating back more than a century will be closing its doors.
AB Lauer Jewelers on West Iles will close later this year when owner Brian Lauer retires. He started the company in 2009, after he and his siblings ran its predecessor, Stout and Lauer Jewelers.
The Lauer family acquired the business from the Stouts, who had initially opened the store in 1910. AB Lauer plans to close out its inventory with a sale of its remaining merchandise at up to 70-percent off.
