Democrats Create Working Groups On Issues From Abortion To Guns

Illinois Democratic lawmakers have assembled “working groups” to look for legislative solutions on issues ranging from abortion to guns to extremism on social media.

House Speaker Chris Welch says the four new groups will join one that was previously established to address public safety concerns. He says the goal is to find consensus on solutions to problems ranging from recent mass shootings to the Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade.

Republican Representative Tim Butler dismisses the groups as just a way to keep people busy, and notes that Democrats did not create a working group to tackle issues like continued high inflation.
