GOP Governor Candidates Pick Up Endorsements

Two major Illinois newspapers have chosen different candidates to endorse in the Republican primary for governor.

The Daily Herald is throwing its support behind Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin… but the Chicago Tribune is endorsing former state Senator Paul Schimpf, even though Schimpf trails badly in most polls in the six-way race. Meanwhile, Irvin has also gotten the endorsement of former federal prosecutor Dan Webb, who has handled multiple corruption prosecutions in the Chicago area.

Webb says Irvin has a track record of fighting crime and corruption and has the skills to keep people safe.
