Illinois Steers Millions Toward Family Planning Clinics

Illinois is giving millions of dollars to support contraception and family planning programs around the state.

More than $5 million in federal funding will supplement nearly $6 million in state dollars to assist clinics that provide services to low-income households around the state. Illinois obtained the federal funding after rejoining the Title X program. The state dropped out of the program during former President Donald Trump’s administration because of a gag rule that prohibited participants from referring patients for abortion services. Now that that rule has been lifted, Illinois is back in the program.

Governor JB Pritzker says the funding for family planning is even more important now… because he says many of the same politicians that are seeking to restrict abortion rights around the country also want to place limits on contraception.
