UIS, Faculty Reach Contract Agreement, Avoid Strike

Faculty and administration at the University of Illinois Springfield have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract, averting a strike with just days left in the spring semester.

It’s a four-year deal retroactive to last August, and running through August of 2025. No other details of the agreement were released, but wages had been one of the main sticking points in the talks.

UIS United Faculty had authorized a strike that could have begun this week if no deal was reached, but several days of intense bargaining with a federal mediator produced the agreement.
