GOP Governor Candidates Still Squabbling Over Debates

The Republican candidates for Illinois governor are once again clashing over debate appearances.

Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin has skipped several joint appearances with the other contenders on the primary ballot… but has now agreed to take part in a debate sponsored by NBC Chicago on May 24th. But at least three other candidates, including Darren Bailey, had already agreed to a debate on that same night sponsored by WGN-TV.

Bailey claims Irvin is seeking a forum with “softer” questions. It’s unclear if there will be some effort to merge the two debates into a single event with all the candidates.
