Amid 4/20 Observance, State Sees Growth In Pot Sales

April 20th has become a sort of unofficial holiday for fans of marijuana, long before the drug was legal for recreational use in Illinois.

And pot is now a cause for celebration for state officials, who continue to see big sales and hefty tax revenues generated by the sale of cannabis across Illinois. The state saw $131 million in recreational marijuana sales in March… the second biggest month since pot was legalized at the start of 2020.

Nearly $1.4 billion worth of marijuana products was sold statewide last year, and Illinois is on pace to exceed that in 2022.
