ISP Squad Car Struck By Suspected Drunk Driver

An Illinois State Police sergeant has escaped injury after his squad car was struck by a suspected drunk driver on Interstate 55 in DuPage County.

The sergeant was on the side of the highway with emergency lights activated for a traffic stop when his squad car was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by a 34-year-old suburban Chicago man. That driver was booked on suspicion of DUI and a violation of Scott’s Law, which requires drivers to move over for vehicles with emergency lights on.

There have been nearly a dozen Scott’s Law crashes involving state police vehicles so far this year across Illinois.
