Sangamon County’s COVID numbers are continuing to show vast improvement.
The county added 188 new COVID cases over the three day period from Saturday to Monday, with double digit case totals each of those days. By comparison, that’s only 11-percent of the total number of local cases over a comparable three-day period in early January. The county’s seven day average of new cases has plunged to where it was in the early days of the surge caused by the COVID variant.
There were no new local deaths reported Monday, and local hospitalizations have fallen from 91 a week ago to 58 on Monday.
