DeVore Plans To Seek Contempt Citation Against Chicago Schools Over Mask Mandate

The attorney who brought the lawsuit against school mask mandates and other COVID measures says he will seek a contempt of court citation against Chicago Public Schools, which plans to keep universal masking in place despite a Sangamon County court ruling.

Thomas DeVore says most districts have decided to go mask-optional in light of the court ruling, which he says shows the strength of the decision by Sangamon County Judge Raylene Grischow.

But many districts say they are adopting the mask-optional stance for now simply because of a lack of clear guidance and because of uncertainty about how the court case will progress.
