The Sangamon County Board is accepting applications to fill a recent vacancy.
Patricia Hayes announced last month that she is resigning her seat in District 28, which covers portions of downtown Springfield and areas to the north and west. Hayes says her seat on the board has conflicted with her work as an attorney, after she was disqualified from representing clients in cases that involved county employees. Applicants must live within District 28 and must be a Democrat, like Hayes.
Applications must be submitted to the county board by February 25th, with a replacement to be named at the county board meeting on March 8th.
