The Springfield Park District police department has a new chief.
Patrick Murphy has been with park police since 2018, after retiring following a 29-year-career with Illinois State Police. Murphy began as a part-time officer for the Park District, then became a full-time officer and ultimately being promoted to Captain before taking on the chief’s job.
Murphy replaces Limey Nargelenas, who retired two weeks ago.
