SMTD Delays Resumption Of Service To Outlying Communities

It will be a bit longer before the Sangamon Mass Transit District resumes service to and from outlying communities like Chatham, Riverton, Rochester, and Sherman.
SMTD temporarily suspended the service on New Year’s Eve because of staffing shortages related to COVID and other seasonal illnesses, as well as vacations, military service and other absences.
The “urbanized area routes” were supposed to resume this week, but SMTD says it has to continue the suspension until January 31st, but it does expect to resume services to those communities on that date.
