Sangamon County has seen more than 2,000 new COVID cases over the long holiday weekend… but the news from Tuesday’s numbers isn’t all bad.
There were no new COVID deaths reported Tuesday. And the seven-day average number of cases fell from an all-time high of 847 per day, set last week, to 778 as of Tuesday. The 2,333 cases from Saturday to Tuesday bring the overall total number of local cases to more than 46,000.
And local hospitalizations are still climbing, with 126 county residents now in the hospital with COVID.
