Lawmakers To Return To Springfield Briefly, But Several Session Days Canceled

Illinois lawmakers will return to Springfield next week, but only briefly, as coronavirus once again spikes around the state.

The General Assembly will convene on Wednesday, but has canceled scheduled sessions on Tuesday and Thursday of next week.

The Democratic leaders in the House and Senate say the sessions scheduled for the following week are also likely to be canceled in an effort to minimize the risk of lawmakers spreading the virus while gathered at the Statehouse, potentially adding to the caseload and the burden on health care providers.
