Springfield School Board Votes To Fire Teacher For Failure To Comply With COVID Mandates

The Springfield school board has voted to dismiss the only District 186 teacher who continued to defy the state’s COVID vaccination or testing mandate.
Kingsley Keys addressed the board prior to Monday night’s vote, insisting that his decision was based on a “broad base of research” into the vaccine, and his insistence that requiring him to test weekly for COVID was discriminatory.
The board voted six-to-nothing to terminate Keys for failure to comply and insubordination… board member Bill Ringer was not present at the meeting. Keys has 17 days to request a hearing on his dismissal, but told the board he would rather sacrifice his job than his principles.
