The Massey Commission has sent letters to the Illinois State Police, Department of Justice, and the Illinois Attorney General’s office requesting a full review of the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office.
Formed in the wake of the shooting of Sonya Massey in her home by a Sangamon County deputy in July, the commission was created by the county to address systemic racism and community mistrust of law enforcement.
