A Springfield Lucky Horseshoes pitcher is recovering after being struck in the head by a line drive during Thursday night’s game at Robin Roberts Stadium.
The team says pitcher Matt Cruise was alert and stable after the scary incident, but was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
Thursday night’s game with the Burlington Bees was called off after Cruise was injured, and a scheduled Friday night game at Burlington was also canceled.
The Lucky Horseshoes will resume their schedule Saturday at Robin Roberts Stadium with another game against Burlington.
