WMAY’s Last Night-in-Sports Report: 06/08/2023

We open up with a historic night in Miami last night, as Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic became the first teammates ever to post 30pt triple-doubles in the same game as the Denver Nuggets defeated the Miami Heat in game 3 of the NBA Finals 109-94 the final. Jokic went for 32, 21, and 10, while Murray went for 34, 10, and 10. The Nuggets now lead the series 2 games to 1. Game 4 is tomorrow night in Miami.

Game 3 of the NHL Stanley Cup final is tonight in Florida as the Panthers down 2-0 in the series host the Las Vegas Golden Knights; puck drop is scheduled for 7p CT.

In the MLB yesterday, the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees were postponed due to air quality from the Canadian Wildfires. The two teams attempt to play a doubleheader in New York today.

Elsewhere, the St. Louis Cardinals got a solo homer from Alec Burleson to defeat the Rangers in Texas 1-0 in the final. The Cards have the day off today and will host the Cincinnati Reds tomorrow night at Busch.

The Chicago Cubs gave up 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning, losing to the Angels in LA 6-2 in the final. Cubs and Angels wrap up their series tonight in LA

In Minor League Baseball the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes, lost to the Quincy Gems 11-4. The Shoes host the Burlington Bees tonight at Robin Roberts Stadium.
