Mayor Misty Buscher notes that she has to take care concerning incentives for any Wyndham City Centre deal

Springfield Mayor Misty Buscher says she has to be careful what incentives she offers to a major downtown hotel – because then lots of other hotels may want the same deal.

Buscher and other officials are still talking with the owner of the Wyndham City Centre after the new mayor scaled back the incentive package the city was offering for a major renovation of the 30-story downtown landmark.

Buscher said in a speech last month that downtown hotel rooms are essential to the city’s efforts to attract conventions and tourists – but she tells WMAY that even with the Wyndham’s status still up in the air, she remains confident the city has enough hotel capacity to meet the needs of upcoming conventions and events.
