A group representing Illinois broadcasters has joined a coalition pressing Congress to take action to keep AM radio free and accessible in all vehicles.
Some automakers have announced plans to stop including AM radios in their cars; while Ford has now reversed that plan, other automakers have not as of this report.
The Illinois Broadcasters Association and other groups say AM radio remains a critically important source of news and information for Americans, especially during severe weather and other emergencies.
They’re asking Congress to approve pending legislation, the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act.
