Northwestern Illinois man facing federal charges in connection with his vehicle and an abortion clinic

A northwestern Illinois man is facing federal charges after he allegedly drove his car into a building that’s being planned for use as an abortion clinic in Danville.

Prosecutors say 73-year-old Philip Buyno of Prophetstown was found stuck inside the vehicle that he had backed into the building, which is currently undergoing renovations.

He was reportedly carrying several containers of gasoline with him, and he’s being charged with attempting to use fire to damage a building used in interstate commerce.

Buyno could face five to 20 years in prison if convicted of the attempted arson charge.
