Abraham Lincoln to enjoy prominent spot for this week’s NFL Draft in Kansas City thanks to The Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau

Abraham Lincoln is known for a lot of things – but being a football fan isn’t one of them. Even so, the 16th President will have a prominent spot for this week’s NFL Draft in Kansas City.

The Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau has arranged to have six Uber and Lyft cars, wrapped with a “Visit Springfield” logo, operating in Kansas City through August, including during this week’s draft festivities.

And Abe himself – in the form of well-known Lincoln interpreter Fritz Klein – will visit the NFL Draft Fan Experience in Kansas City Thursday for a photo op.

It’s all part of an aggressive marketing effort by Springfield tourism officials to promote Mr. Lincoln’s Hometown as a travel and leisure destination.

You can see Jim Leach’s conversation with the Bureau below and on WMAY’s Youtube channel!
