Governor JB Pritzker is officially not taking sides in the race for Chicago mayor – but he is taking a shot at one of the contenders.
Pritzker’s camp reacted to audio that surfaced of candidate Paul Vallas’s 2021 appearance on a conservative Chicago radio show in which Vallas criticized Pritzker’s COVID restrictions and said Pritzker’s use of executive orders allowed him to act like, quote, “a dictator.”
Pritzker’s campaign issued a statement saying that Chicago voters deserve to know if their next mayor will listen to experts in a public health emergency – or if they’ll just listen to “right-wing talk show hosts.”
Vallas is facing Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson in the April 4 runoff for mayor.
