Governor JB Pritzker stands by Illinois COVID-19 policy nearly three years later

Governor JB Pritzker says it’s easy to second-guess, but he still stands behind the decisions he made and the restrictions he implemented at the start of the pandemic.
It’s now almost three years since the spread of COVID forced a statewide shutdown of schools and many businesses.
During a press event in Springfield this week, Pritzker said he tried to follow the recommendations of medical and public health professionals.
He notes that with the restrictions put in place, Illinois has had a lower per-capita death toll from COVID than other states – like Florida – with less stringent rules.
