South Dirksen Parkway Driver Services to be closed for next several years

Springfield’s Driver Services facility on South Dirksen Parkway will be closed for two to three years while the building undergoes a major renovation.

Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias announced the closure, which takes effect at the close of business this Thursday, February 2nd.

The building will have a complete overhaul of its HVAC system, a project expected to last 24 to 36 months.

In the meantime, all the services offered at the Dirksen facility, including drivers’ licenses, ID cards, license plate stickers, and title and registration, will be offered at a temporary facility at 1650 Wabash Avenue, beginning next Monday.

The facility at Klein and Mason also offers driver services.
