Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed Against EMTs, Ambulance Company

The family of the Springfield man who died last month after allegedly being mistreated by EMTs is now filing a wrongful death lawsuit against the two individuals and the company they worked for.

Civil rights attorney Ben Crump came to Springfield Thursday to announce the filing of that suit, which names LifeStar Ambulance Service and EMTs Peter Cadigan and Peggy Finley, who are both now charged with murder in the death of Earl Moore, Jr. A worker who answered the phone at LifeStar said “no comment” to a question about the lawsuit, and then hung up.

Meanwhile, the two suspects appeared briefly by video in a Sangamon County courtroom Thursday to request a preliminary hearing on the charges against them. That hearing will be held Friday morning.
