DNC Rejects Illinois Bid To Host Early 2024 Primary

Illinois has lost out on its bid to hold one of the first presidential primaries of the 2024 election cycle.

Being an early primary state would have raised Illinois’s political profile and importance to candidates. Illinois Democrats had argued that the state’s diversity makes it an important proving ground to show that any candidate can appeal to a wide cross-section of voters.

But the Democratic National Committee is moving ahead with a plan favored by President Biden to put South Carolina first, followed by Nevada and New Hampshire.
