Springfield Clinic Launches Its Own Health Plan

Springfield Clinic is launching its own health plan, which it says will ensure that participants will never find their doctors through the clinic to be “out of network.”

It’s the first such self-operated plan in the clinic’s 80-year history. Springfield Clinic… which has been involved in a dispute for months with Blue Cross Blue Shield over access to the clinic’s providers… says it decided to create its own plan in response to requests from employers and patients.

Enrollment in the plan will be available to any Central Illinois employer with ten or more workers. It will include all Springfield Clinic providers, as well as access to a national Health Link network with more than a million providers around the country.
