Lightfoot Seeks Another Term As Chicago Mayor In Crowded Field

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is seeking a second term… and is facing a crowded field of challengers.

A total of 11 candidates have filed for the 2023 mayoral election in Chicago, although challenges to nominating petitions could knock some of those would-be contenders off the ballot. Among those hoping to unseat Lightfoot is Chicago Congressman Jesus “Chuy” Garcia, former candidate for governor Paul Vallas, and Chicago Alderman Roderick Sawyer, the son of former mayor Eugene Sawyer.

Meanwhile, veteran Chicago alderman Ed Burke is not running for re-election after more than 50 years in office… Burke is facing a federal trial next year on bribery and other charges.
