Springfield Clinic says its move to create its own health coverage plan was spurred along at least in part by its ongoing dispute with Blue Cross Blue Shield. But a clinic executive says the new plan doesn’t mean Springfield Clinic is giving up on an agreement.
It’s been over a year since Blue Cross Blue Shield dropped coverage of providers through Springfield Clinic, leaving many Central Illinois residents faced with finding new doctors or paying higher out-of-pocket costs.
Springfield Clinic says it would still like to get its providers back into the Blue Cross network, but says its new Springfield Clinic Advantage program provides another option for local employers.
