Deering: Wealthy Seniors Could Be Open To Means Testing For Social Security, Medicare

The Republican candidate in the 13th Congressional District says she’s heard discussions of “means testing” that could reduce Social Security or Medicare benefits for wealthier Americans.

Regan Deering says she thinks wealthy people might be willing to “sacrifice” their benefits to ensure that more money is available for lower-income seniors who rely much more on those federal programs for survival.

Appearing live on WMAY, Deering also said there should be some effort to demand more concessions and cuts in federal spending in exchange for future increases in the nation’s debt ceiling. Deering is facing Democrat Nikki Budzinski for the open 13th District seat.
